Unique traditional and experimental music concert

Aveiro 2024 – Portuguese Capital of Culture presents Pieris Napi on February 10th (Saturday), at 9:30 pm, at Teatro Aveirense. This unique concert was created by Papillons d'éternité, a duo composed by Tânia Carvalho and Matthieu Ehrlacher, at the request of Aveiro 2024, within the scope of the first quarter's theme: Culture and Identity.

For this traditional and experimental music concert, Tânia Carvalho and Matthieu Ehrlacher worked in close collaboration with the Grupo Folclórico da Casa do Povo de Cacia. Pieris Napi takes traditional Aveiro music as its starting point and introduces other instruments, such as the saxophone and the eco-erhu, to create a new way of experiencing tradition and giving it another voice.

The songs of the folkloric group are separated from their original form to be placed, piece by piece, in the construction of a sound journey, where the echoes of the past resonate in a dive of voices, generating an atmosphere that combines traditional and experimental music.
