Dance, music and great composers in Paulo Ribeiro's new show

On the 4th of July, Teatro Aveirense will host a new creation by Companhia Paulo Ribeiro. Maurice Accompagné has music and great composers as its backdrop and can be seen at 9.30pm in the Main Hall.

In 2024, Companhia Paulo Ribeiro began a new trilogy based on music and composers from different eras: the early 20th century, the 1960s and the present day. The music will be the breath of time, of the constraints and hopes of the years that have passed.

Three different choreographic pieces that seek unity in their formal and musical (and sentimental) diversity, inspired first by the music and then by the lives and sensibilities of the chosen composers.

Maurice Accompagné, the first part of the trilogy, focuses on the early 20th century, crossing the life and work of Luís de Freitas Branco and Maurice Ravel. The next piece will focus on the present day, the 20s of the 21st century, placing Louis Andriessen and Luís Tinoco side by side. Finally, we'll return to the 1960s, with Joly Braga Santos and Benjamin Britten.

Paulo Ribeiro wants to cross different times, realities and geographies, to remember how music and the body transcend the moment and link us irremediably to each other, if possible transcribing the dimension and elevation that music and the body possess, regardless of the contingencies and the more or less favourable moments that mould them.

It is clearly through the body and music that we are all connected.
