Police station is the stage for a show

Aveiro 2024 – Portuguese Capital of Culture presents this Friday, March 15th, at 9:30 pm, an unprecedented performative and visual show at the Noble Room of da PSP - Comando Distrital de Aveiro. The performance, which is led by dancers Flávio Rodrigues and Maria Fonseca, is part of the Sobretudo cycle, an initiative that proposes artistic creations in unexpected places. This winter, shows have already been presented at the Vista Alegre factory and at the University of Aveiro Library.

Flávio Rodrigues and Maria Fonseca have in common the fact that they are dancers with a parallel path in the visual arts. For this presentation, the artists previously designed a score according to which they will perform, in a creation designed specifically for the venue, taking advantage of a large table that occupies the center of this space.

A show with movement, design and sound, in which paper, coal, beetroot and some objects will form the basis of a performance where the body will be the driving force of an intervention with a great visual charge.

This debut is the first collaboration between the two artists and comes at the invitation of the curator of the Sobretudo cycle, Miguel Moreira, from the Útero association, who in 2023 selected Flávio Rodrigues and Maria Fonseca for the collective exhibition “bailarinos e coreógrafos que desenham e pintam”, at Teatro Viriato, in Viseu, with five other creators.
