PRISMA is back again between the 4th and the 7th of October

The PRISMA / Art Light Tech returns next October 4th to 7th. Organized by Aveiro City Council/Teatro Aveirense, and part of the Aveiro Tech Week, the festival takes place at the intersection of art, science, technology and heritage with creators from all over the world, in a combination of artistic installations, projections and site-specific works to trace a route through several public places and historic buildings in Aveiro.

This year PRISMA is dedicated to humanity's relationship with nature and is titled 'No Problem', an ironic expression that could reflect the attitude of human beings towards the environment, ignoring the signs that show that we are on the path to the environmental catastrophe. In this context, the festival celebrates the role of artists in defending a more active attitude, bringing together a group of creators who, through the combination of art and technology, are dedicated to celebrating the natural beauty of our planet. Each in their own way, they show how it is possible to think of a balance between the elements of the complex equation of life.

Among the participating artists is Jérémie Bellot, from Frande, who brings a large-scale light installation where water takes center stage, forming a canvas where perspective and optical illusion are played. The intervention by LasermanCZ, from the Czech Republic, also promises to be eye-catching, being a video mapping work created for the facade of the building of the Old Captaincy of Aveiro, where water once again plays an important role.

The duo Pierce Warnecke, from the United States, and Clément Edouard, from France, addresses water as memory, showing a kinetic installation made up of rocks collected from a river in France. As for Robertina Sebjanic, she addresses the environment of sea urchins and questions their subsistence conditions. In a close interaction between plants and humans, the French duo Scenocosme presents an installation where touch is instrumental in creating sounds.

This year, PRISMA has two activities with the artistic community. One is the School of Videomapping, dedicated to training artists from Aveiro, which is now in its fourth edition and shows new works from the winners of previous editions. The other is the debut of the Light Designers Contest, which brings together two designers to present their proposals, with a winner being chosen at the end of the event.
