MONITOR: The selected projects are already known

MONITOR, a mentoring project dedicated to emerging musicians, promoted by Teatro Aveirense/Câmara Municipal de Aveiro, announces its finalists. This edition had more than 70 applications, more than double of the previous one, in 2021, and the those chosen were Dinis Mota (Aveiro), Nayr Faquirá (Cascais) and Bela Noia (Viseu).

The winners will now begin a training course, lasting one year, that will involve several experts in the field of Music. This support, which will be adapted to the level of knowledge and development of each artist/project, aims to share in-depth knowledge about the music industry, support the development of growth strategies and provide tools for good career management.

In addition to this, MONITOR also includes the allocation, at the end of the journey, of a budget of 2,500 euros per project, for the recording of an album, a videoclip or for carrying out a photo shoot, as well as a performance at the vivo, as part of the Teatro Aveirense program, in September of next year.

The call for the 2024 edition of MONITOR, launched in September this year, included the selection of one project from Aveiro and two from other locations in Portugal. The next step will be to start the respective mentoring journey, with steps that include theory related to the music industry in Portugal (players, contracts, remuneration), music marketing (traditional and digital), communication, booking concerts and tours, copyright and related rights, followed by support in defining a strategy for all levels of the project in question.

The person responsible for MONITOR is Rafaela Ribas, manager, agent and managing partner of the aFirma agency, with the management, organization and production of this project being the responsibility of Teatro Aveirense. MONITOR also counts on the contribution of 11 experts in various areas of the cultural sector.

This initiative is part of the Strategic Plan for Culture 2019-2030 of the Aveiro City Council, namely in its Axis 1 (Creation), and has the seal of the Aveiro 2024 – Portuguese Capital of Culture.
