September at Teatro Aveirense with five premieres and one national debut

The rentrée at Teatro Aveirense begins with a full calendar of events in September, with music, dance, the new circus, cinema and community projects, calling on national and international artists, with five premieres and a national debut. This program of the Aveiro 2024 – Portuguese Capital of Culture project.
In music, the activities begin on the 6th of September with the opera Madrugada: as razões de um movimento, with which the MPMP Património Musical Vivo and the Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April. Another highlight in this area will be the Ganso show, on September 26th, in another stage of the Novas Quintas section, dedicated to emerging musicians.
Also in music, there’s the Monitor's final concert, on September 20th, which brings to the stage Dinis Mota, Nayr Faquirá and Bela Noia, three musical projects that for a year took part in a mentoring process by Teatro Aveirense/Câmara Municipal de Aveiro, with the aim of enabling them to optimize their careers. This concert takes place outside, in Sala Aberta, a program in public space at Teatro Aveirense that also includes the show Sursum Corda, através de tudo, by Fernando Mota, scheduled for September 15th at the Claustros da Misericórdia.
In dance, attention will focus on the national premiere of C La Vie, on September 19th, a show by Serge Aimé Coulibaly, one of the most renowned choreographers of the moment, who tells a story crossed by a series of obstacles and no heroes to overcome them, with nine performers on stage.
On September 13th, Edni premieres. It’s project between performance and art installation that brings together Né Barros, João Martinho Moura, Fahr 021.3 and Vivian Ingrams, in a proposal that responds to the theme 'Culture and Sustainability', addressed this quarter by Aveiro 2024 – Capital Portuguesa of Culture. After the show is presented, the installation can be visited for free from September 17th to 28th.
Contemporary circus will also have its place in the Teatro Aveirense program, this time with the show Pa(i)ysage[n]s, by João Paulo Santos, a variation of the Chinese maypole in three moments by one of the most notable Portuguese artists in this field. It premieres on September 27th.
The cinema will have two special moments. The first will be on September 17th, the day on which you can watch the film Sobre Sonhos e Liberdade, by Brazilian directors Márcia Paraíso and Francisco Colombo, about the meaning of the abolition of slavery in Brazil. A session with the presence of the film's director and producer. Another moment to be taken into account will be the thematic session of Aveiro 2024 – Portuguese Capital of Culture, this quarter dedicated to the theme 'Culture and Sustainability', with the premiere of the film Para Lá da Porta, by Ana Carolina D'Antas, and the restoration of the films Aveiro, by Perdigão Queiroga, Num Mar de Moliço, by Alfredo Tropa, and Crónica do Esforço Perdido, by António Macedo, all restored by Cinemateca Portuguesa.
Teatro Aveirense will also present two shows that are the outcome of the work developed within the scope of the Participation Programs of Aveiro 2024 – Portuguese Capital of Culture. On September 21st, Terra Amada is presented, a dance show that addresses environmental threats with students from the José Estêvão, Dr. Mário Sacramento, Aveiro and Esgueira and the Artistic School of the Calouste Gulbenkian Conservatory of Music, Aveiro. At the end of the month, September 29, the result of the OLAS project – Artistic and Social Objects and Laboratories – is presented, an initiative that seeks to transform citizens and communities into creators of the future through artistic practices.
