Heras: Teatro Aveirense and GrETUA challenge the community
Published at — 9 September 2021
Teatro Aveirense and GrETUA will start, in the next quarter, a new theatrical series entitled "Heras", through which they will promote the meeting between audience and artists in an intimate format, free of formalism, inside the homes of the people of Aveiro. The hosts, who will be able to register starting 2nd September (through bit.ly/heras-aveiro), will receive an artist in their home for a unique performance, with time for dinner, socialising and conversation.
"Heras" is the result of a perspective of the city as a network of fundamentally affective relationships, established through what we possess in terms of culture. The initiative seeks to strengthen the close relationship with the public, reorienting cultural and artistic enjoyment towards an experience that must always be, above all, emotional.
At a time when the experience of the performing arts has been far removed from its traditional contexts, "Heras" proposes that we return to the roots of its nature: the encounter with others, dialogue and community.
Thus, some of the artists, who are a part of GrETUA and Teatro Aveirense’s programming, will perform small presentations in private homes, on the eve of their show on stage.
The hosts are in charge of organising the dinner, the socialising and the guests in the manner they prefer and can either choose to spend an evening alone with the artists or invite their family or their closest friends.
Also, within the scope of this project, the city’s residents may also become an extension of the usual “Ao Vidro” (“In the Window”) gallery (part of GrETUA's programming since the end of 2019), by having works of art exhibited in their windows. Thus, they will be part of the creation of new routes and new perspectives in a city that, despite already knowing itself so well, will always want to know itself even better.
So that everyone may feel safe, the artists will be tested for Covid-19.
