Teatro Aveirense announces dramaturgy lab

Teatro Aveirense announced an open call for its Dramaturgy Laboratory. The initiative aims to encourage drama text creation, as well as promoting knowledge and reflection on the different historical manifestations of dramaturgy. Through a panel composed of different artists and academics, it is intended to offer theoretical and practical support to all trainees, who will have the opportunity to develop and edit their own work.

The Dramaturgy Laboratory starts on February 7 and runs until July, lasting for 6 months, with three sessions per month, conducted by Bruno dos Reis, Jorge Palinhos, Lígia Soares, Maria Sequeira Mendes, Nuno M Cardoso and Rui Pina Coelho.
Applications are open until February 7th and can be done by filling out this form. The total registration fee is €180, with a 20% discount on registrations until 31 January. For students, the registration fee is €90, with a 50% discount applied (not cumulative with the early registration discount).

The Dramaturgy Laboratory aims to be a platform that encourages experimentation and creation, offering its participants a set of practical tools and methodologies that enhance the idealization, conception and accomplishment of their personal works. Classes will have three different modules with theoretical and practical sessions.

Of the theoretical valences, a highlight is for the ongoing training with the coordinator and resident teacher, who will make the necessary historical contextualization, accompanied by informative materials, as well the monthly invitation of external trainers, who will address an author or a specific subject.

On the other hand, and regarding the practical aspects, there will be sessions dedicated to the creation of small drama proposals by the trainees, framed by the objectives and methods previously established, being accompanied by the respective critical analysis by the trainer and the rest of the group. Still in this field, it is intended to offer students a broader perspective than usual, introducing them to the work done by different directors, performers and choreographers when they propose to work on a text.
