Teatro Aveirense will have dance, theatre, music and cinema in April

Dance, theatre, music and cinema are the main highlights of Teatro Aveirense for April, a month in which it gathers artists such as Três Tristes Tigres, Joana Gama, Victor Hugo Pontes, Sandra Barata Belo, Margarida Vila -Nova and The Twist Connection, among others.

The month begins with another session of Novas Quintas, on April 7, with The Twist Connection bringing their “rock’n’roll from Coimbra”, to use an expression with which the band usually describes itself. They present their usual themes and have their fourth album in the pipeline, from which the single “Young Kid” is already known.
For April 14, another dance session of “Palco Instáveis - Aveiro” is scheduled, a partnership between Teatro Aveirense and Companhia Instável. Two proposals will be presented: “Intimidade Amplificada” and “Na Ausência de Ternura”. The first is authored and performed by Teresa Pereira da Silva, the second by Juliana Fernandes and Victor Gomes.

Music returns on April 22 with a concert by Três Tristes Tigres. The band that created some of the most recognizable songs of the 90's is back with a new album and the experimentation that has always been its trademark. Ana Deus and Alexandre Soares will be on stage with Miguel Ferreira (keyboards), Fred Ferreira (percussion and sampler), Rui Martelo (bass) and Eleonor Picas (harp).

On April 24th, Teatro Aveirense hosts two sessions of the show “As Árvores Não Têm Pernas Para Andar”. It is a fusion of music with several other artistic areas by Joana Gama, following a journey through the wonderful world of trees and using a little-known musical instrument, the toy piano.

Also on the 24th, at 6:00 pm, another session of the "Conversas do Aveirense" cycle is held. On the occasion of the 25th of April, this new roundtable proposes a reflection on the relationship between art and society in democracy, based on studies about reality shows, popular music and documentary theater. Nuno Cardoso, Olivier Neveux, Sílvia Viana and Marcos Cardão will participate.

The following day, April 25, the show “Cochinchina” will be presented. Its directed by Sandra Barata Belo and its cast includes Margarida Vila-Nova, Vítor D’Andrade and Patrícia André. It is a free adaptation of a book by Afonso Cruz, “Principio de Karenina”, the story of a man who lives in the duality between what is inside his door and beyond it, leaving for the East in search of a daughter who will never meet him and writes a letter, revealing his story.

The dance returns to Teatro Aveirense on the 30th of April through a new work by Victor Hugo Pontes, a regular visitor of this space. He will be presenting "Porque é Infinito", a creation that brings a contemporary reinterpretation of "Romeo and Juliet", William Shakespeare's classic about love and its limits.

Cinema lovers will have the usual sessions of Filmes das Nossas Terças, with four new films to discover. They are “Onoda, 10,000 Nights in the Jungle”, by Arthur Harrari (the 5th of April), “Box of Memories”, by Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige (the 12th), “Orgies in Prague”, by Irena Pavlásková (the 19th), and “Instinct” by Halina Reijn (26th).

For theatre lovers and its texts, there is “À Boca de Cena”, dedicated to the shared reading of dramaturgical works, always with a special guest. This month the session will take place on April 20, at 9:30 pm, with the presence of Ricardo Correia.
